SUCCESS SPOTLIGHT

YouthBuild Columbus Community School has renovated three homes for low-income families. They recently celebrated the completion and sale of a home in East Columbus remodeled by students through the school’s Department of Labor program. The program is geared towards giving back to the community and being able to count community hours, and skills earned, towards graduation. The remodel took close to two years to complete and the students involved with the project were able to have an active part in the remodeling process and give back to their community at the same time.

Our Successes

While our graduation rates and state test scores are important, our biggest successes are our students. Seeing their faces light up when they realize they finally have a teacher who believes in them. Watching them excel in a new school full of teachers committed to their success. Cheering them on as they graduate and move on to new jobs and careers beyond our school's halls.
Some judge us only by the credits our students have earned, but we judge ourselves by the lives we help change and the life-long friendships we build.
